Check Sturgis Recent Arrests

Sturgis recent arrests can start with more than one badge. City police handle most calls inside this Union County town. Sheriff's deputies and state troopers can also make the arrest. Nobody sits in a Sturgis jail, though, because the city has none. Union County sends its arrestees to a detention center in a neighboring county. One arrest can leave a trail in three places. The trail runs through the agency's report, the custody record, and the court file. The city publishes no arrest blotter.

How Sturgis Arrests Work

Sturgis Police Department is the city's own law enforcement agency. Union County Sheriff's deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers also work arrests in the area. The county emergency plan lists Sturgis Police as a responder. Sturgis counted 1,735 residents in 2020, making it the second-largest city in Union County. Agency identity matters. The arresting department keeps the incident report, while the receiving detention center holds custody details.

Union County no longer runs its former jail. The official county jail page says the jail closed in fall 2020. Arrestees now ride to neighboring Webster County Jail. The facility today is Webster County Detention Center in Dixon. A Sturgis Police arrest can land on a Webster roster. The court case, though, stays in Union County.

No Sturgis Arrest Blotter

Sturgis publishes no same-day booking page. There is no multi-day police blotter either, no public photo roster, no booking app, and no written mugshot policy. The state's directory from the Kentucky Department for Local Government is an official contact source. It is not an arrest database.

Still, every arrest leaves a record somewhere. Start with the agency that made the arrest. Then check the Webster current-inmate list. For a broader look at why no verified multi-day roster exists, the county Police Blotter page separates live custody from news coverage and historic archives. A government directory can't answer that question.

Where Sturgis Arrests Appear

Each source answers a different question. Official channels come first, since they establish agency, custody, and court status; news and archives work only as secondary leads.

The official Webster inmate wrapper leads into the public JailTracker interface. It lists people currently held at Webster. Sturgis arrestees share space with inmates from everywhere else. The page covers no fixed number of past days. Neither Union nor Webster promises a photo for every entry.

Locate a Sturgis Booking

Keep arrest, custody, and court status separate in any lookup. Gather the full name, the approximate date, and the arresting agency if you know it, and never rely on a shared name alone.

  1. Confirm whether Sturgis Police, the sheriff, KSP, or another agency made the arrest.
  2. Read Union County’s closure notice and follow its link toward Webster custody.
  3. Search the Webster JailTracker entry and compare available booking details.
  4. Call Webster County Detention Center if intake may be pending or a release or transfer may have occurred.
  5. Use CourtNet or the Union County clerk for hearings, bond changes, amended charges, and disposition.
  6. Request the incident report from the arresting agency and jail material from the proper custody records holder.

A roster miss can mean several things. Intake may still be in progress, or the person may have been released or transferred. A different spelling can also hide an entry. Whatever the reason, a missing line does not settle whether the arrest happened.

Sturgis Police Arrest Records

The state directory lists City Hall at 106 West 6th Street, P.O. Box 98, Sturgis, Kentucky 42459. The main number is (270) 333-2166. It also names a police-chief contact. The city posts no arrest-record request form, copy fee, or response-time policy. Ask the records custodian for the current procedure first. Then send your documents.

Put the request in writing. State the person's name, the approximate date and location, the agency, and the exact record you want. If Sturgis officers made the arrest, the incident report belongs to Sturgis Police. Webster holds the custody record after booking. A sheriff's arrest goes instead to the Union County Sheriff, 100 West Main Street, P.O. Box 30, Morganfield, (270) 389-1303. Expect no promised photo, fee, or same-day reply.

Why Sturgis Bookings Say Webster

Old stories may name Union County Detention Center. That facility closed in 2020. Current bookings go to Webster. So a fresh custody record can name Webster County Detention Center even when the arrest happened in Sturgis. Date, arresting agency, holding facility, and court venue are four separate facts.

The official Webster facility page lists 141 Stegall Street, Dixon, Kentucky 42409, and (270) 639-7020. Union County's closure page still shows the alternate number (270) 639-7022. Trust the current Webster page. Confirm the right desk before any urgent call. That mismatch is also why old third-party Union pages can't be trusted to mirror today's booking system.

Sturgis Arrest News Sources

The Sturgis News is a useful starting point. Its public-notice archive once carried a 2024 PDF holding the Union County Jailer's annual activity report. A 2025 item described one arrest, a Webster stay, and a bond. Local print can document the post-closure custody route. It is not a daily arrest log. An old item is not current status. Radio and TV fill gaps sometimes. WMSK and 14 News cover Sturgis or Union County events as they happen. Unofficial mugshot sites also exist. RecentlyBooked, Busted Newspaper, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, and Arre.st maintain Union-labeled pages, while Mugshots.zone hosts a Webster page tied to the holding county. Treat all of them with care, since their sources, dates, and refresh habits stay unclear, and never assume a Webster entry is a Sturgis arrest unless the record names the agency or location.

Sturgis Arrest Court Outcomes

Webster custody answers one question only. It shows where a person is held, not how the case ends. For the court file, turn to official routes. Kentucky CourtNet tracks arraignment, bond changes, hearings, amended charges, dismissals, pleas, and final dispositions, and the Union Circuit and District Clerk can supply the underlying records. A pending Union County case can outlast a Webster release. State prison is different again. If someone enters DOC custody, the Kentucky KOOL search applies. Federal and immigration detention run through separate systems entirely.

Stick to official agency, custody, and court channels in that order. Note the dates whenever local print or archive sources supply added context for a Sturgis arrest search.
